Tracy Trudell 2017
Well it is that time of the year again where the harvest is beginning, the sounds of children screaming in delight as they get on their favourite ride and the smell of cotton candy is in the air! Yes, it is the Wallacetown Fair.
Generations have come to the fair and will once again experience all the Fair has to offer and the new generation will start their own traditions at our small-town fair with a big town feeling.
I can’t wait for you to come and enjoy all we have to offer you and your families this year, from our 2nd annual Friday night Barn Dance, all ages welcome, with Marshall Dane to our one price ride – every day at the fair, as we welcome, Campbell Amusements as our carnival for everyone to enjoy.
We will also have something new for you to see on Saturday evening with our Mud Bogg and also the entertainment of the Mudd Men – I can’t wait! Sunday once again come and see our local heroes compete to thrill the crowd as they smash and crash.
We have so much to offer and this is a small taste of what you will see and experience. Please look through the book to find out what, when and where you will find to do at this year’s fair.
Make sure you take a look at all the hard work that has gone into all the entries in the General Exhibit building, Junior Fair and 4-H buildings. From the Pet Show to the cattle and sheep shows we have something for everyone.
Thank you to all the fair board directors for their dedication throughout the year from working bingos, fundraising and planning for this year. I truly am grateful for all you do for the fair and in our community, without you there would be no fair for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you to our fair Secretary, Kim Carder, for keeping us on track and all the extra you do and to our new Treasurer, Shirley Mullin, for looking after the purse strings – you are a welcome addition to our board.
I would also like to thank all the volunteers that help during the fair, before, after and throughout the year as well – I am grateful for all your generous giving of your time to continue what we have all grownup loving, one weekend in the fall each year.
I hope that our community will continue to support our local fair as we look around and find other fairs dying but because of the support we have through our community and volunteerism, we will continue to thrive! Thank you
See you all at the fair!
